About Splitpond

Splitpond exists because splitting expenses with friends shouldn't require an account, an app install, ads, or a subscription. A group is a link. Everyone with the link is in.

The promise: unlimited free expenses, forever

Some expense apps cap how many expenses you can add per day on the free plan. We think that's the one thing an expense splitter must never do, so we're putting it in writing:

Adding expenses, seeing balances, settling up, and exporting your data will always be free and unlimited on Splitpond. No daily caps. No ads. If that ever changes, this page is the receipt.

How the lights stay on

Pro is planned, but it is not on sale yet. The current plan is a $12 one-time purchase (not a subscription) that would unlock CSV export and remove the five-scans-per-group monthly allowance. Service-wide safety limits would still protect the scanner from abuse. Recurring expenses and multi-currency groups are ideas, not shipped features. The core stays free regardless.

No lock-in

Your group's full history exports as JSON with one click, free, no account. The CSV export (Pro) even uses Splitwise's own column layout, so you can move your data to any other tool — including away from us. A delete button removes a group and everything in it, permanently, no support ticket required.
