The worst part of leaving any expense app is the sunk cost: years of expenses, running balances, that one unsettled €14 from the ski trip. So we made leaving lossless. Your Splitwise export recreates the whole group here — every expense, every settle-up payment, balances matching to the cent.

Step 1 — Export from Splitwise

Open your group at secure.splitwise.com → group settings → "Export as spreadsheet". You'll get a CSV file. (Full walkthrough with mobile instructions here.)

Step 2 — Drop it here

Leaving Splitwise?

Drop in your Splitwise export CSV and get this group here — full history, balances to the cent.

In Splitwise: open the group → Settings → Export as spreadsheet. Step-by-step guide

Step 3 — Share the new link

That's the whole migration. Send the group link to everyone; nobody creates an account, nobody installs anything. The group keeps working exactly as before — minus the daily expense cap, the ads, and the subscription-gated scanner.

What imports, precisely

  • All members (by name — no emails needed here)
  • Every expense with its date, description, amount, and per-person shares
  • Settle-up payments, kept as payments
  • Final balances, identical to the cent — our import tests assert this

Multi-payer expenses (rare) are split into one entry per payer so the math stays exact. Anything the importer can't read is skipped with a warning rather than failing the whole file. And if Splitpond isn't for you, export everything right back out — JSON free, or CSV in Splitwise's own format with Pro.
